Flâneur – noile naratiuni urbane. Drumul catre data-dandy

A fi departe de casa si totusi a te simti peste tot acasa; a vedea lumea, a fi in centrul ei si, in acelasi timp, a ramane ascuns lumii. Acest spectator este prins intr-un continua miscare sub semnul anonimatului. Va prezint acel le flaneur al lui Charles Baudelaire. Labirintul orasului contemporan este cel care-l construieste pe flaneur, is structureaza si configureaza teritorializarile. Walter Benjamin se intoarce la acest concept in The Arcades Project pentru a urmari impactul pe care-l au noile structuri urbanistice prezente asupra psihicului individului. Miscarea acestui flaneur concepe anacronie: el traverseaza spatiul modernitatii cu ochii atintiti asupra trecutului, scrie Benjamin.

Ei bine, nu este suficient, mai ales daca stam bine si ne gandim la societatea informationala. Nomadismul flaneur-ului se excerbeaza, au loc (de)teritorializari si (re)teritorializari succesive, iar acest invizibil calator se arunca in plin in haul de date-informatii. El insusi devine o data-informatie, devine data-dandy, pentru a reitera termenul lui Geert Lovink.

A fost un preambul pentru a va anunta un eveniment interesant, o conferinta internationala: Flâneur – New Urban Narratives.

Call for papers

The Conference “Flâneur – New urban narratives”, organized by Procur.arte and the research centres CIAC/UAlg, DINÂMIA’CET – IUL/ ISCTE – IUL and IHA/FSCH-UNL, will take place at the Teatro São Luiz in Lisbon on the 12th and 13th of May 2015.

Proposals can be submitted to either one of the following panels:

Panel 1: Rethinking the city walk in modern and contemporary art
Coordination: Giulia Lamoni and Margarida Brito Alves (IHA/FCSH-UNL)

Panel 2: City, photography, and Cinema – representations of the flâneur in the audiovisual
Coordination: Mirian Tavares and Ana Isabel Soares (CIAC/UAlg)

Panel 3: Territories of the flânerie: experiencing urban public spaces today
Coordination: Pedro Costa and José Luís Saldanha (DINÂMIA’CET – IUL/ ISCTE – IUL)

Submission procedure:
Please send an abstract of 300 to 500 words (excluding references) and a short biography to flaneur.conference@gmail.com, indicating which panel you are submitting a proposal to.
Both documents should be in English and include full name of the participant with current affiliation and full contact details.

Submission deadline: 22 February 2015
Notification of acceptance: 10 March 2015
